Warning: fraudulent invoices

One of our practices has contacted us to say they were contacted by a company asking the practice to pay a fictitious invoice.

Remember:

  • Check whether you have a record of ordering the goods or services detailed on the invoice 

  • Check whether the practice has received the items listed 

  • Consider searching for the company online in an attempt to establish if the business is genuine

  • Do not contact the company using the details contained in the invoice 

  • Do not pay the invoice unless it can be determined that the invoice is genuine and the goods have been received

NHS England and NHS Improvement

Learning disability, death certification and DNACPR orders

The third annual Learning Disability mortality review (LeDeR) report is due to be published on the 21st May and will include analysis from over 1000 deaths. It has found that the rationale for a number of Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) were cases documented as “learning disability” and “Down Syndrome”.

Please see the attached letter from Professor Stephen Powis regarding the guidance on the use of DNACPR and Medical Certificate Cause of Death (MCCD) for people with a learning disability or down syndrome.

Alcohol Brief Advice and Intervention service

A new Alcohol Brief Advice and Intervention service has been commissioned by Cambridgeshire County Council, offering brief advice and interventions for those who do not see themselves as dependant drinkers and those who potentially need to consider change.

Courses are held in:

  • Cambridge City and South Cambs

  • East Cambs

  • Huntingdon

  • Fenland
