CCG Educational Event: Managing controlled drugs in general practice - 16 April
Further to the Save the date! included in last week's GP News we are pleased to be able to confirm the topic for the 16 April CCG Educational Event: Managing controlled drugs in general practice – taking the pain out of CDs.
As part of our refreshed membership ‘offer’ we will be holding regular CCG-led educational sessions for our members. These will be held every 4-6 weeks and will be promoted via the Training Hub website https://cptraininghub.nhs.uk/ and in our GP News bulletin. The events will have a clinical and improving quality focus and will be open to all clinicians working in our member practices. The first event is on Tuesday 16 April at Huntingdon Racecourse. We look forward to seeing you there!
EU Exit preparations – let us know of any issues
The CCG has staff working on preparations and local assurance around EU Exit, with regular reports going to NHS England. We would like to know if practices are experiencing any pressures related to EU Exit. If there are any issues (for example, delayed access to specific medicines, increases in new patient registrations from former EU residents, increases in patients moving back to their country of origin) that you would like to make us aware of please email us at email@example.com.
New System-wide Diabetes Clinical Lead
Dr Jessica Randall-Carrick is announced as the new System-wide Diabetes Clinical Lead
Dr Jessica Randall-Carrick said: "I work as a GP at Thistlemoor Medical Centre, a large practice in an area with high levels of social deprivation in Peterborough, serving a diverse patient population. This practice has over double the obesity rate compared to national and local data, with its associated comorbidities, so I understand the needs of these patients and the challenges in supporting them. Formerly, I worked in the British Army and developed my skills in Clinical Leadership and management roles. I am looking forward to working with the Diabetes Clinical Network across the STP System in order to improve and maintain quality standards in diabetes prevention, treatment and care."
Diabetes Clinical System reports
Clinical system reports are now available to help practices with the Diabetes LES, these reports can be used to:
- evidence a way in which you are managing your Diabetes register;
- identify and target patients who are not meeting the NICE recommended treatment targets;
- identify whether patients have attended Structured Education programme.
The SystmOne reports can be found C&P GP practice group > LES Diabetes, the EMIS reports are being tested and will be available early November 2018.
National Diabetes Audit (NDA)
The NDA Care Processes and Treatment Targets 2017/18, published on the 8th November, can be found HERE. https://digital.nhs.uk/data-and-information/publications/statistical/national-diabetes-audit/report-1-care-processes-and-treatment-targets-2017-18-short-report
As per the Diabetes LES, the data enables practices to identify improvements in pro-actively managing patients achieving NICE treatment targets by comparing 2016/17 and 2017/18 data. Practices are able to filter down to practice and CCG level data via the Excel Interactive Report England and the interactive summary tab.
