Reminder: CCG Elections – call for Nominations
We are inviting nominations from GPs who are interested in standing for election to our Governing Body. Standing for election enables you to become more involved in commissioning local NHS services.
All GPs (locums, salaried and partners) working in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Clinical Commissioning Group area and on the performers’ list are eligible to stand for nomination in the elections. We would like to see the Governing Body represent the diverse nature of the population and our geographical area. The documents are all on the Healthcare Professional section of our new website here.
- There are two GP posts up for election to our CCG Governing Body.
- The period of tenure will be for three years (to 2020).
The deadline is 5pm on Friday 31 March 2017.

Urgent and Emergency Care vanguard programme – survey
As part of our Urgent and Emergency Care vanguard programme we have commissioned RAND Europe to carry out an independent evaluation of the programme. As part of this they are conducting a short survey targeted at those who have been involved with and affected by the urgent and emergency care improvement efforts that are part of the vanguard initiatives – for example the development of Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) and the First Response Service (FRS) within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Please help share your expertise and experience by completing this survey – it takes around 10 – 15 minutes to complete. The link to the survey is: https://smapp2.rand.org/surv4/UEC_CP. The survey will close at 9:00 a.m. on Monday 3 April.

Amber drug alert
We have been notified of a case of Invasive Group A Streptococcal (IGAS) infection in Cambridge City, this follows an alert that was raised by PHE last month as other cases had been identified in the eastern region. As such I have attached an alert, a poster and factsheet. Can you please familiarise yourself with the information, follow the advice attached and help distribute harm reduction information to those groups at risk, particularly the homeless population and injecting drug users.
GP Winter Indemnity Scheme – extension to cover Easter
As part of a broader General Practice Forward View commitment to address the issue of rising indemnity costs, NHS England’s 2016 GP Winter Indemnity Scheme is designed to meet the costs of personal professional indemnity for additional out of hours work undertaken by GPs. Previously planned to run from October 2016 to March 2017, the scheme has been extended to the end of April 2017 so that GPs wishing to work additional sessions, particularly over the Easter Bank Holiday period, can now do so without incurring additional indemnity costs. Further information is available on the NHS England website.
