Reminder: Christmas and New Year communications toolkit

An updated version of the ‘Be prepared – festive season’ communications toolkit, which includes resources about New Year, is available for GP practices here. 

The toolkit focuses on: 

  • Being prepared - ordering repeat prescriptions, stocking up medicine cabinet  
  • Guide to NHS services available over Christmas and New Year
  • Keeping well and warm - cold weather, slips, trips and falls  

The toolkit includes resources such as posters, jpegs for waiting room screens, articles for websites, and suggested social media activity that GP practices can use. Princess of Wales Hospital Minor Injuries Unit (Ely)

Opening hours: Monday-Sunday, 8.30am-6pm. Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays, 8.30am-6pm. Closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

Doddington Community Hospital Minor Injuries Unit

Opening hours: 8.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Minor Illness and Injury Unit at the City Care Centre (Peterborough). 

The Peterborough MIIU can treat minor injuries and illnesses from strains and sprains, to broken bones, minor burns and bites. The MIIU also aims to start patient treatment within 45 minutes.

NHS England consults on freeing up £136million to boost frontline NHS care by curbing prescription costs

NHS England has  launched a public consultation on prescriptions for some ‘over the counter’ products such as dandruff shampoo and drops for tired eyes, freeing-up up to £136million to expand other treatments for major conditions such as cancer and mental health problems. Registration for Fully Funded GP Personal Coaching Sessions 

Expressions of interest can be made until 31 January 2018. Places are limited to a first-come-first-serve basis.

Following the earlier success of the national coaching programme, NHS England are offering a fully funded one-to-one tailored coaching for GPs. You will gain three 90-minute confidential sessions by highly experienced and qualified coaches to help you think through where you are and where you want to be in today’s challenging and changing environment. This forward-looking, action-orientated, positive and personal approach will help you identify goals for the next steps that can give you satisfaction and fulfilment, and support you to make them happen. e-Learning for Healthcare

e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) is a Health Education England (HEE) programme that provides e-learning to educate and train the health and social care workforce.
 
We are currently developing and delivering over 150 e-learning programmes comprising 10,000 e-learning sessions.  All HEE e-LfH e-learning is available free of charge to the NHS workforce facilitating multi-disciplinary training and teamwork.
 
The e-learning programmes cover subjects from audiology to anaesthesia, dentistry to dermatology, emergency medicine to end of life care, primary care to prescribing, safeguarding children to statutory and mandatory training, plus many more.  The programmes are relevant for clinical and non-clinical roles.
