University of Cambridge Post-Stroke Fatigue Study- Recruitment Centres Needed- Post-stroke fatigue rarely frequents national and international guidelines, yet as you will know is a problem which the majority of stroke survivors encounter at some point on their journey. To inform the literature and work towards better evidence-based care we must learn more about the patient perspective. A researcher is looking for Participant Identification Centres in the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough region to help meet the research aims. Oral steroids do not help hearing for children with glue ear- Oral steroids do not improve hearing, symptoms, or quality of life in children with glue ear. Brain training app helps reduce OCD symptoms- Cambridge researchers have developed a new ‘brain training’ app which could help people who suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) manage their symptoms, typically including excessive handwashing and contamination fears. In study published in the journal Scientific Reports, Baland Jalal and Professor Barbara Sahakian from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge show how just one week of training can lead to significant improvements. The intervention, which can be delivered through a smartphone app, involves patients watching videos of themselves washing their hands or touching fake contaminated surfaces. Ninety-three healthy people who had indicated strong contamination fears as measured by high scores on the ‘Padua Inventory Contamination Fear Subscale’ participated in the study.
The R&D team are located on the 4th floor of Lockton House. If you want to get in touch about our weekly research updates, please contact Sarah Hider (email@example.com).
