An estimated 30,000 to 35,000 adults with a learning disability, autism or both take an antipsychotic, an antidepressant or both without an appropriate clinical reason, putting them at significant risk of harm, premature death and reduced quality of life.
NHS England, many Royal Colleges and social care partners have already pledged to stop the inappropriate use of these drugs and building on their success a new pledge has now been produced for healthcare providers. This new pledge will be officially signed and launched at an event on 25 April.
