Providing work experience - Future Talent

Many of our GP Practices provide Work Experience as an opportunity for young people to learn more about the workplace and as a form of talent-pipelining for the future. Attached is a factsheet that suggests skills that a young person could bring to a placement that would add value to practice, guidance from HEEoE and an example timetable.

If you are interested in providing Work Experience the following opportunities are available:

Neale-Wade School (March) have a number of Year 12 Students (sixth form) looking for a week’s work experience 25-29 June,  interested in healthcare and are having limited success in securing placements, if any surgeries in March, Chatteris, Wisbech or Peterborough in particular are willing to take on a students for this week please us know.

Cambridge Regional College have several Level 2 Health and Social Care learners who are interested in a career within the NHS. Their placement days are on Monday and Thursday and they have 3 who live in St Neots and 1 in Papworth who would like to be phlebotomists.

Careers Organisations across the patch that have learners keen to get into the NHS, are as follows:

Medical Student

We have been contacted by a Medical Student, he is 19 and would like medical work experience for 2/3 days minimum, in or around Cambridge with immediate effect.

Sixth Form Students

Historically some practices have invited keen sixth form learners back during the summer, to a paid placement, to cover receptionist annual leave. Could this work for you?
