Patient forums - how patients can get involved

The CCG aims to work with local people including patients, carers and their representatives, as well as with other partner organisations, to ensure that local health services meet the needs of the local population.

How to get involved with our work

Patients can get involved in the commissioning of health services in a variety of ways:

  • A local Patient Participation Group - most GP surgeries across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough now have a patient participation group (PPG).  A PPG is a group of patients who are interested in health and healthcare issues and want to get involved with/support the running of their local GP practice.  Most PPGs meet regularly to contribute their ideas relating to the services and facilities offered by their practice.  Some practices have PPGs that meet face-to-face, while others may have virtual groups that communicate by email.  For further information,  patients should ask at reception to talk to their Practice Manager.
  • Patient Forums - some areas have patient forums, with membership open to anyone. These are groups of people interested in health and healthcare issues who usually meet every two months.
  • The CCG stakeholder list - if patients are interested in working with us to develop new and improved local health services, or would just like to be kept informed of the CCG's work, they would need to provide their name and contact details – which the CCG will store on a secure database.

Patients: contact us!

To get involved in any of the above ways, please contact the CCG's Engagement Team on 01223 725304 or email capccg.contact@nhs.net
